Welcome to my blog.
When I was thinking about a name for my private counselling practice I wanted to portray my belief that you don’t need to be in crisis to have counselling, that it’s a positive step to improve wellbeing. A positive sense of wellbeing can help us to cope with life’s challenges.
So when I started to think about blogging, I knew I wanted to focus on ways which we can invest in our emotional health.
With clients, I often talk about building a “toolkit”, a personal set of resources and coping strategies which can be drawn upon. This is what I hope this blog can be, a place of ideas about how to maintain a positive sense of wellbeing. Some things are out of our control. But what if we could give ourselves a better chance of beating, or preventing, depression, anxiety and stress? Of course we are all different, so what one person finds helpful another may not. A personal toolkit is unique to you.

What I publish of course my view. I like to keep an open mind so my thoughts and opinions may change over time. I welcome your perspective and encourage you to respond, add comments and even disagree. Please keep your comments related to the post. It’s okay to disagree and debate but please be polite, don’t write anything you wouldn’t say to someone in person! I do want to interact but please be patient as I am unable to respond to comments daily.
